A few general comments:

A. including the schema diagrams is pointless as they are unreadable. The
spec should describe the elements of the ADQL in english and link to the xsd
as the definitive version (along the lines of the RM document and the
registry schema).

B. I don't think we need a definition of SkyQL (makes it sound like a
separate language). Just need to describe how an ADQL document may be
represented in string form (even provide an XSL translation tool).

C. the XSD should be made available before we start the clock ticking on a
deadline for feedback.

D. Basically, I agree with everything in the ADQL (I think) but the spec
needs to be formulated in a way that describes every aspect of the ADQL
before we can really ask people to comment on it. But if everyone else feels
that the XSD is the only necessary defintion of ADQL then I'll withdraw the
idea.

ADQL-2:
- this illustrates my point. If the xsd IS the standard then we don't need
to state this, if not, then all the other aspects of the ADQL also deserve
explanation.

ADQL-4:
- if region is a standard or a draft then we should reference the document,
if not then either submit it or include the description/defintion here.

ADQL-6:
- what form does the version number take? String only or full xml breakdown?
What does it mean to services which implement the ADQL? Should a service
state which version it implements? How does it signify backwards
compatibility and to how many levels? What changes are needed to the
Registry to accommodate this?

ADQL-8/9/10:
- this is confusing and suggests that SkyQL is different to ADQL. Why do we
need all this description?

If you have comments (objections) to this document, please circulate your
comment(s) to our mail exploder list (voql at ivoa.net). If I see no major
objections before 0000 hours ,January 24th, (GMT), I will forward this
document to the IVOA executive committee for their approval.

Because I received no major objections to our another working document on
the SkyNode (the document is SkyNodeInterface-0.5.pdf), I would like to
approve the SkyNode document in our group.

If you agree with me (or you show no objections to do so), I would like to
send two documents to the IVOA executive committee as proposed
Recommendation documents.

Any comments ?
