Dear Everyone,

I am Masatoshi Ohishi of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan,
and has been assigned as a coordinator to develop our common VOQL.

I was so sorry that I could not participate to your debate for the last
several days. I was attending to other international meeting as a delegate
from Japanese Government, and, therefore, was unable to respond you all.

Japan has developed our own Query Language (JVO QL) based on the
standard SQL, with some extensions to apply to astronomy. We aimed to
DEFINE its functions, and we have not considered which language to use,
such as XML, UML, etc. We believe we can choose it later after we have
defined which functions we really need to exchange query information.

Our document on JVOQL was originally written in Japanese (it's our default
language !), and my colleague is preparing its English version. I will submit
the document to this exploder soon.

I am looking forward to having your constructive comments to our document.

Cheers,

    Masatoshi
